General Pest Management Course
Our General Pest Management course consists of three units from the Certificate III in Urban Pest Management CPP30119.
It is designed to provide new or experienced pest control technicians with the knowledge and skills to be a licensed pest management technician.
Upon successfully completing all training, practical experience and practical assessments, you will receive a Statement of Attainment which can then be submitted to your government licensing office to receive your General Pest Management Licence. Please contact us for more information.
CPPUPM3005 Manage pests without applying pesticides
CPPUPM3006 Manage pests by applying pesticides
CPPUPM3018 Maintain equipment and pesticide storage area in pest management vehicles
Enrolment duration is 12 months.
This course is self-paced and will require access to a digital device with camera e.g. Phone, laptop, tablet or iPad.
Option 1: Face to Face Complete all workshops at MPL Training Centre.
Includes: 5-Day Theory Workshop, 3-Day Practical Experience Workshop and 2-Day Assessment (*10 days face to face training) Dates dependant on Workshop availability.
Option 2: Correspondence Units are completed by Correspondence self-paced learning.
Practical requirements must be completed under the supervision of a licensed Pest Management Technician in the workplace as follows:
• Access to 10 sites to demonstrate General Pest practical requirements
• Assessment includes video submission
• MPL to assess Workplace Supervisor Declaration prior to commencing practical
Option 3: Blended A combination of Face to Face, Workplace, Correspondence and on-site with MPL.

Legislation relevant to those involved in public health pest control
Storage and transport of pesticides
Control of vertebrate pests including rats, mice, birds, possums and feral cats
Public health insect pest biology and control including cockroaches, ants, wasps, flies, biting insects, stored product insects etc
Pesticide application equipment
Personal protective equipment
Choice and use of insecticide and rodenticide formulations
New developments in active ingredients, formulations and application techniques
Practical Exercises
'Hands-on' insect identification including a variety of pest specimens
Safe Use of Chemicals and Tools
Effective Ways to Manage Pests
Hands on building inspections, risk assessments and management programs for ‘General Pests’
Completion of the Course
To complete the course you will need to:
Complete all 3 components: Theory, Practical Experience & Practical Assessment
Submit all evidence for Final Assessment
Successful completion of this course requires students to be deemed COMPETENT by an MPL Assessor.
For the units successfully completed a Statement of Attainment (SOA)for those units will be issued. The RTO, (RTO 91015 – MPL Training Pty Ltd) will issue the Certification within 30 days of the student being deemed competent. All Statements of Attainments are issued in accordance with the Standards for RTOs, the AQF Handbook, and as required under the Act. for all units of competency.
