Our General Pest Management short course consists of three units (5, 6 & 18) from the Certificate III in Urban Pest Management CPP30119 and is designed to provide new or experienced Pest Control Technicians with the basic knowledge and skills to be a licensed Pest Management Technician.

After completing all training and both written and practical assessments, you will receive a Statement of Attainment which can then be submitted to your government licensing office to receive your Pest Management Licence. This course must be completed within 12 months of your enrolment date.

Termite & Timber Pest Management Course

5 Day Face to-Face course or by Correspondence
3-4 Day Practical Experience
2 Day Practical Assessment

Our Termite and Timber Pest Management short course covers two units (8 & 10) from the Certificate III in Urban Pest Management CPP30119 and is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to be a competent Termite and Timber Pest Manager. We recommend you complete the General Pest Management course first, however this is not a requirement in most states.

After completing all your training and assessment, you will receive a Statement of Attainment which can then be submitted to your government licensing office to receive your Pest Management Licence. This course must be completed within 12 months of your enrolment date.

DISCOUNT – If you book and pay for our Face-to-Face General Pest Management course and the Timber and Termite Pest Management course together you may receive a discount (this does not apply to any correspondence courses).

Certificate III in Urban Pest Management (CPP30119)

This certificate covers 5 core units and 5 elective units and applies to people working in the pest management industry as Pest Management Technicians who identify pests, assess pest problems, consider pest management options, liaise with customers and implement pest management strategies.

If you have already completed both the General Pest Management and Termite and Timber Pest Management short courses referred to above, you only need to complete a further 5 units by correspondence to gain the Certificate III in Urban Pest Management CPP30119.

If you have not undertaken any previous Pest Management training you can study the whole 10 course units by correspondence or a combination of face to face study and correspondence (you do this by studying the 2 short courses referred to above face-to-face and then studying the remaining units by correspondence).

This qualification must be completed within 18 months of your enrolment date. Those on a government funded traineeship must complete their studies within 2 years.

3-4 Day Practical
Experience Workshop

You can do this with MPL (or work in the industry to do Practical Experience tasks with a Licenced Pest Technician). Practical experience is usually conducted over three (3) – four (4) days with an MPL Trainer/Assessor and you will cover a variety of practical experiences. Practical experience must include a series of pests (and pest sites) which will be organised for you. This work can also be organised and completed separately with your Workplace Supervisor, whilst working in the industry.

2 Day Practical
Workshop & Assessment

Whether training by correspondence or face-to-face each of our 3 training courses requires participation in an additional 2 day practical workshop, providing you with the opportunity to demonstrate your skills and knowledge as part of your final assessment. Where it is difficult for a student to access an assessment location we can discuss and organise an alternate method of assessment.

Following assessment you will either be recognised as “competent” in each specific unit, or “not yet competent”. If you do not successfully pass your assessments initially do not worry, we offer you the opportunity to resubmit and potentially be assessed in different ways. Our trainers are on hand in person, by email or phone to assist you with your training needs. Generally you do not need to be completely reassessed.

Pest Management
“Assessment Only” Pathways

You may be already competent in the area of Pest Control & Management and do not require formal training in some or all of the units of study we offer. You may have had equivalent training and / or assessment, partially or fully, through courses in other parts of Australia or overseas. You may also have developed experience from on the job training and individual research, or through a combination of these activities.

In all cases, students will need to provide detailed evidence that supports their previous training and/or assessments, as it pertains to all aspects of each unit of competence required.

Please contact us on (02) 4322 0331 to discuss your individual training and assessment needs.
