General Pest Management Course

The General Pest Management correspondence course consists of 3 units from the Certificate III in Urban Pest Management CPP30119 and is designed to allow students the freedom to fit study into their life without compromising their other commitments.

This Pest Control & Management course is designed to provide new or experienced Pest Control Technicians with the knowledge and skills to be a licensed Pest Management Technician.

To achieve licensing you will require the following units:

CPPUPM3005 Manage pests without applying pesticides

CPPPUPM3006 Manage pests by applying pesticides

CPPPUPM3018 Maintain equipment and pesticide storage area in pest management vehicles

study materials

MPL will express post you the Urban Pest Management in Australia textbook.

You will also receive log in details to the Learner Management System.

Enrolment Duration is 12 months

This course is self-paced and will require access to a digital device with camera e.g. Phone, laptop, tablet or iPad.

Correspondence Units are completed by Correspondence self-paced learning.

Practical requirements must be completed under the supervision of a licensed Pest Management Technician in the workplace as follows:
• Access to 10 sites to demonstrate General Pest practical requirements
• Assessment includes video submission
• MPL to assess Workplace Supervisor Declaration prior to commencing practical

 

Topics Covered Include

Legislation relevant to those involved in public health pest control

Storage and transport of pesticides

Legislation relevant to those involved in public health pest control

Control of vertebrate pests including rats, mice, birds, possums and feral cats

Public health insect pest biology and control including cockroaches, ants, wasps, flies, biting insects, stored product insects etc

Pesticide application equipment

Choice and use of insecticide and rodenticide formulations

Personal protective equipment

New developments in active ingredients, formulations and application techniques

Practical Exercises

'Hands-on' insect identification including a variety of pest specimens

Safe Use of Chemicals and Tools

Effective Ways to Manage Pests

Hands on building inspections, risk assessments and management programs for ‘General Pests’

Completion of the Course

To complete the course you will need to:

Complete all 3 components: Theory, Practical Experience & Practical Assessment

Submit all evidence for Final Assessment

Successful completion of this course requires students to be deemed COMPETENT by an MPL Assessor.

For the units successfully completed a Statement of Attainment (SOA)for those units will be issued. The RTO, (RTO 91015 – MPL Training Pty Ltd) will issue the Certification within 30 days of the student being deemed competent. All Statements of Attainments are issued in accordance with the Standards for RTOs, the AQF Handbook, and as required under the Act. for all units of competency.
