Training and Assessments in Pest Management

About Training with MPL Training Centre Pty Ltd

Training with MPL Training Centre Pty Ltd allows you to gain recognised qualifications in Pest Management. Our trainers and assessors are fully qualified with significant experience in urban pest management. We aim to assist you in achieving your qualifications through training and assessment, or by recognizing your previous experience. MPL Training Centre Pty Ltd is  Registered Training Organisation No 91015, fully accredited by NSW Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board and The Australian National Training Authority. We offer nationally recognised qualifications against all units of competency from the National Pest Management Industry Competency Standards.

Competency
Competency asks you to be able to demonstrate that you have the specific knowledge and skills required for a unit of competency. You can demonstrate skills to an assessor by performing a job under observation, providing documentary evidence such as samples of paperwork, or by oral questioning. It looks at your ability to carry out a specific task safely and effectively with sound background knowledge, rather than just the traditional memory tests. At the assessment you will either be deemed competent in a specific unit, or not yet competent. There is no such thing as a fail. If you are deemed not yet competent you will be advised to do further practice, you may then be reassessed in the areas where you were not yet competent. You do not need to be completely reassessed.

Assessment

How can you be assessed? To be assessed as competent in a unit you can follow one of 3 paths.

  • Full Assessment. This involves a process of on-the-job assessments and documentary evidence to demonstrate your competency.
  • Recognition of Current Competency (RCC). This is a simpler process where you can show that you are already competent in a unit of competency by way of your current qualifications and showing samples of your work. The process relies heavily on your presentation of documentary evidence to support your competency. The assessor will review your evidence and where necessary add to it by using other supporting evidence such as oral questioning.
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). If you have completed studies with another institution at an equivalent academic level, you can apply for RPL. This will provide credit for learning and assessments you have already completed, meaning that you need not complete all units of competency.

Will I Need Training? As well as providing assessment, MPL Training Centre Pty Ltd can provide training in all levels of Pest Management. If you are new to the industry and need training to obtain a licensee, want to become a termite specialist, undertake fumigation, better manage your business, or any other reason we provide training in all units of competency.

What Do I Do Next? Decide on the units or certificates that you wish to be trained and or assessed in, then complete the enrolment form. When the enrolment from and payment is returned you will be sent more detailed information on your training and assessment program.
