What is Face to Face Training?
Classroom or workshop training where you actively participate with the trainer to gain knowledge and skills. Typically our courses are 5 days in length, where students cover both theoretical and practical aspects of Pest Management. We also run a 1 day intensive on Bed Bugs.
What is Correspondence Training?
This is where you complete Self Assessments, Work Logs, and other guided distance learning in your home or workplace in preparation for your on-site assessment.
What is Assessment?
An observation and judgement of your competency.
What is Competency?
Competency asks you to be able to demonstrate that you have the specific knowledge and skills required for a unit of competency. You can demonstrate skills to an assessor by performing a job under observation, providing documentary evidence such as samples of paperwork, or by oral questioning. It looks at your ability to carry out a specific task safely and effectively with sound background knowledge, rather than just the traditional memory tests. At the assessment you will either be deemed competent in a specific unit, or not yet competent. There is no such thing as a fail. If you are deemed not yet competent you will be advised to do further practice, you may then be reassessed in the areas where you were not yet competent. You do not need to be completely reassessed.
Do I need to already be working in Pest Management before commencing an MPL Training Course
No, however for some of our courses you will be required to provide evidence of 20 hours of practical experience using various pest management techniques. Some people do this by conducting some work experience with a local pest control company. Others may already be working in a pest control company.
What are the benefits of completing the Bed Bugs Workshop for Pest Managers?
This workshop is designed to increase your knowledge of Bed Bug management with a view to adding value to your business or your employability.
