Face to Face Workshops

Face to face training is the recommended way to achieve your pest Management qualifications.

MPL Training Centre offers the following qualifications as Face to Face workshops:

 

The 5-day and 1-day Workshops:

  • Introduce the basic principles of public health and timber pest management for those new to the industry.
  • Extend the knowledge of those already working as pest managers.
  • Have the primary objective of providing the precise information needed to undertake pest management successfully.
  • Enable you to gain your license and fulfill your insurance requirements.
  • Will provide you with helpful hints and tips to assist you in business growth and productivity.

The Workshops will begin each day at 8.30 am and conclude at 4.00pm. They include morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea on each day. Course fees also include books, notes, resources, ongoing assistance and assessments until the qualification is completed. Costs for each course are located on the relevant student booking form.

Course 1 - Pest Management Licensing
(Duration 5 Days)

This 5-day workshop is designed to provide you with the basic knowledge and skills to be a licensed pest management technician. The course covers both training and assessment. After completing your training and assessment, you will receive a Statement of Attainment which can then be submitted to your government licensing office to receive your license.



Units covered are:

PRMPM05B - Modify environment to manage pests
PRMPM06B - Apply pesticides to manage pests
PRMPM18B - Maintain an equipment and chemical storage area

Topics covered include:

  • Legislation relevant to those involved in public health pest control
  • Storage and transport of pesticides
  • Control of vertebrate pests including rats, mice, birds, possums and feral cats
  • Public health insect pest biology and control including cockroaches, ants, wasps, flies, biting insects, stored product insects etc
  • Pesticide application equipment
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Choice and use of insecticide and rodenticide formulations
  • New developments in active ingredients, formulations and application techniques

Practical exercises:

  • 'Hands-on' insect identification
  • Inspection of a catering facility and development of pest prevention/control strategies.

Completion of the course:
To complete the course you will need to attend all daily sessions, complete a self-assessment booklet and participate in practical assessments.

Course 2 - Termite and Timber Pest Management
(Duration 5 Days)

This 5-day workshop is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to be a competent Termite and Timber Pest Manager. The course covers both training and assessment. Upon completion of your training and assessment, you will receive a Statement of Attainment which can be submitted to your government licensing office, insurer or accreditor.

Nationally Regognised Training

Units covered are:

PRMPM08B - Inspect and report on timber pests
PRMPM10B - Control timber pests


Topics covered include:

  • Timber Pest biology and control including Termites, Borers and Wood Decay Fungi
  • Australian Standards and other documents pertaining to Timber Pests
  • Inspection and Reporting of Timber Pests
  • Options and proposals for timber pest management
  • Set up and monitoring of Termite Programs
  • Overview of Physical Termite Barriers
  • Resolving conflict

Practical exercises:

  • 'Hands-on' Timber Pest identification
  • Physical inspection, reporting and proposal on a local timber dwelling

Completion of the course:

To complete the course you will need to attend all daily sessions, complete a self assessment booklet and participate in practical assessments.

Note: After completing your Pest Management Licensing and Termite and Timber Pest Management Courses by Face to Face, you may wish to consider progressing onto your Certificate III in Asset Maintenance Pest Management Technical. This is the highest technical qualification and can be completed by correspondence.

These quality workshops aim to introduce the basic principles of integrated Bed Bug management and extend the knowledge of those already working within the industry. The workshops will provide the precise information needed to undertake Bed Bug control successfully. Helpful hints and tips will also be offered to assist in business growth and productivity.

As bed bugs have come back strongly in Australia since the 1990s, control has become exceedingly difficult. Now, with new products, equipment, treatment methods and a comprehensive Code of Practice, Pest Managers are now gaining long-term effective control of Bed Bugs. In this workshop we will explain how both you and your business will benefit from these breakthroughs.

Nationally Regognised Training

Unit PRMPM42A
“Install Physical Termite Barriers”

This training course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills for Termite Management to new Buildings. The course covers both training and assessment. To complete this course you need to complete two tasks

  1. Complete a workbook
  2. Participate in an assessment and interview

Topics covered will expand the following:

  1. The details of building construction as they pertain to the installation of Termite Barriers.

  2. The skills and knowledge required to install physical termite barriers, including barriers that combine physical and chemical characteristics.

  3. The application of physical termite barriers in both pre- and post-construction applied to domestic, commercial and industrial construction.

Completing the workshop
To complete this workshop you will need to attend a 4 hour session, complete a self assessment booklet and participate in a problem solving exercise.

The costs are $ 295.00 per person and includes morning tea lunch and afternoon tea, as well as books, notes and resources required to complete the course

If you are unable to make it to one of our Face to Face Workshops, and you have more time to complete your qualifications, then possibly a Correspondence Course is better for you.
